Are you going on vacation in Honolulu Hawaii and want to eat at a little restaurant that you heard about from a friend? You need reservations for next Friday and want to know if you can get reservations now. Google maps will allow you to call them for free!
What’s the catch? Google Maps only lists businesses so free calls to your aunt Judy are out. That is unless you get lucky. When I first learned of this Google feature I was so jazzed that I told a friend and she immediately used it to call her mom! How you ask. She knew that he mom answered the main line for a GM location. So she searched Google maps for the Business and location and Bam! Her mom was on the line for free.
How it works.
1. Go to http://maps.google.com/.
2. Type in the name and location of the business you want “Tiki's Grill & Bar Honolulu, Hawaii”
3. On the left side of Google Maps you will see the search results with their phone number. That is great all by itself but if you click call right after the phone number that is when the magic starts.
4. Type the phone number you want to have the call go to. Note if it is a cell phone your will use minutes.
5. Click the “connect for free” button.
6. Almost instantly your phone will ring. Answer the Phone.
7. You will hear a voice say connecting and then the phone will ring to the Tiki’s Grill and it will be on Google’s phone bill.
When you try this trick call a business that you need to speak to. Don’t call the Tiki Grill unless you are dieing for some Coconut Shrimp. :-)
Tips:
1. You can ask for a type of business. That is you don’t have to be specific i.e. ask for “Pizza, Chicago, IL”
2. You will get better results if you place a comma between the different parts of your search. For example Pizza, City, State
